About St Josephs
The parish was established by Bishop John Carroll in 1912. Since then, a number of zealous pastors have led the parish with faith, hope, and love. Father Michael Brady is our current Pastor. He is assisted by Father John Darbyshire - Assistant Priest.

St Joseph’s Church is situated one block from the border of N.S.W. and Queensland. It has the capacity to seat about 800 people. Sunday Masses see a capacity attendance, and during the week there are at least 100 worshippers each day. St Camillus’ Church is at Bilambil, just 12 km from St Joseph’s.

The Mass forms the centre of our lives as Catholics. There are many groups that are alive and active in the Parish. Parish Family members feel welcome to be involved and to be cared for at the same time. There are a number of support and outreach groups within the Parish.

We have two Primary Schools, and a Secondary College, which cater for the needs of over 1450 young people. Within the Parish there are a number of Aged Care Facilities which we attend regularly to provide the residents with Mass, Liturgy of the Word with Holy Communion, and with the sacrament of Anointing of the Sick. St. Joseph’s Futcher Youth Service, through St Joseph’s Community Centre, provides a support facility that caters for the needs of the youth in the area.

Our parish will celebrate its centenary in 2012. We have a history group, which will help us celebrate this event. We consider ourselves to be still a young and developing Parish, as there is a large movement of people in and out of the parish because of its location and its popularity as a holiday destination.
